Homemade Crescent Rolls

Grandma's from-scratch recipe for deliciously soft and flaky crescent rolls.

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg active dry yeast 2 1/4 tsp
  • 1 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar or honey
  • 1/2 cup melted oil I used refined coconut oil
  • 4 eggs beaten
  • 4-5 cups all purpose flour

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • Add sugar, salt, oil, and eggs.
  • Add flour.
  • Let rise until double. About an hour.
  • (Optional: You can let dough chill covered in the fridge until ready to use.)
  • Divide dough into three equal parts.
  • Roll out on a floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness. Round it like a pie.
  • Brush with melted butter.
  • Cut in 12 triangle pieces like a pie.
  • Roll up each triangle into a crescent roll. Start at the large end and roll.
  • Place on cookie sheets and brush again with melted butter.
  • Let rise more than double in size.
  • Bake in the oven for around 10 minutes. They burn easily!
  • Take them out of the oven and enjoy them hot!
