Our Favorite Cast Iron Skillet Cornbread

Ingredients
  

  • 2 tbsp bacon grease, lard, or coconut oil for using in the bottom of the skillet Coat the skillet, then preheat
  • 1/4 cup oil coconut oil, grease, lard
  • 1 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp sour cream
  • 2 cup cornmeal

Instructions
 

  • First, preheat the oven to 450 degrees.
  • Add the tablespoon or two of oil to the skillet, and preheat the skillet in the oven.
  • Then, in a bowl, crack the egg, then add the oil, milk, sour cream, and cornmeal.
  • Mix together until just incorporated, but do not overmix.
  • Pour the batter into the preheated skillet, and cook for 20 minutes.
